You`ll visit historic sites from 13th century and Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape –UNESCO World Heritage Centre which includes Kharkhorum, the 13th century capital of Great Mongolian Empire. Monglolia is famous for being the homeland of Chinggis Khaan. The Orkhon valley has a rich cultural heritage, such as burial mounds, rare and precious monuments, inscribed monuments, inscriptions and archaeological findings that vividly show the culture of pastoral nomads from ancient times.
Erdene Zuu Monastery, ”Jewel Temple”, was built in the 16th century. It’s certainly the oldest Buddhist monastery of Mongolia and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in the category “cultural landscape of Orkhon Valley”. Erdenezuu Monastery was built on the site of the old Mongolian capital Kharakhorum using some of the building materials of the ruined city Today, Erdene Zuu remains an active Buddhist monastery, and at the same time a museum open to travelers.This destination offers you a good walk around its area visiting the temples. Furthermore, you can also visit the Kharkhorin Museum with findings from the ancient capital.
You will enjoy having bath at Tsenkher hot spring. The 86-degree hot spring from the ground, containing many natural minerals, can relax your body and relieve fatigue. Lake, waterfall and hot spring coexist with nomadic lifestyle.
The camels in Mongolia are Bactrian and have two humps. The Bayan Gobi is the perfect place to experience all the fun of camels which are surprisingly comfortable as they walk slowly and gently, and we will be well supported by the humps, sitting comfortably between them. Beautiful scenery and exhilarating riding - a wonderful combination! During the trip, you will meet pastoral nomadic families and see their unique way of life. Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, our tour guide and driver will meet you after custom formalities. Transfer to your hotel. The city tour of Ulaanbaatar takes you through some of the principal sights of this unique city. You visit the Gandan Monastery, housing a 26 meter high gilded statue of the Buddha. Your tour also takes you to the Chingis Khan monument on the Sukhbaatar square and the National Museum, which has a number of fascinating displays of traditional Mongolian clothing and weaponry, as well as exhibits charting the course of Genghis Khan’s empire-building. After breakfast at the hotel we drive to Kharkhorin. This excursion to the ancient capital of Kharkhorin will give you a new perspective on the nature of the Mongol Empire. Not much remains today of Karakorum, as it was destroyed by clan infighting. Erdene Zuu is a Buddhist monastery which dates back to 1585. Built from the ruins of Genghis Khan's capital, Kharkhorin, Erdene Zuu is the oldest surviving monastery in Mongolia today. Then visit Kharkhorin museum and see the Great Mongol state period, Stone Age, Bronze Age, Ancient state period halls. Hiking in the Great King`s monument hill where you can see over the Orkhon Valley. Overnight stay in a ger camp by Orkhon River. (B,L,D)
Start driving to Khushuu Tsaidam Monuments to Bilge Khaan and Kul-Tegin, dated 732 AD, were found 47 km to the northwest of Karakorum, part of the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape UNESCO world heritage site. Continue driving to Ogii lake. In the evening hiking around the lake enjoying bird watching and experiencing nomadic lifestyle. Overnight stay in a ger camp. (B,L,D)
Drive to Tsenher hot spring. The Mongolian styled inside and outside hot spa baths are made with original stones and rocks from the nature, so this bath makes people feel the real natural spa environment and make them to relax and refresh very well. This morning we drive to Ulaantsutgalan or Orkhon waterfall. Over 25 m high Ulaantsutgalan is the biggest waterfall in Mongolia and one of the most attractive destinations in the Orkhon river valley, UNISCO World heritage site. You will find the waterfall is a great hiking spot including the descent and ascent to the 22 m deep canyon dotted with pine trees, on the trails about 250 m downstream from the waterfall. Early morning, drive to Bayan Gobi unique area of forest and sand dunes.This location is perfect if you would like to see Mongolian golden sand not too far from the capital. The area is surrounded by sand dunes, hills covered with rare bushes and a small forest near a river. Together this presents a unique combination of Mongolian mountains, forests and Gobi-type landscape in one location. Local people call this sand dunes Duut mankhan (Singing sand). After lunch at tourist camp, there is an opportunity for a camel ride trial through the sand dunes. We visit a local family where you have an opportunity to experience their way of life, their culture and traditions. Overnight stay in a ger camp. (B,L,D)
After breakfast drive to Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the hotel.Leisure time and If you feel like going for a walk and checking out places, feel free to ask the driver and tour guide. Our next highlight is a famous cultural show in the city, which is featuring traditional performances by singers, dancers and contortionists.
